Who is Sky Islands for?
Sky Islands is for survival players who want somewhere new to explore and a long goal to work towards. If you have run out of things to do in your world, it adds a whole layer above it, with islands to find, ores to mine and gear to build up to. It works in single player and multiplayer.
What do you actually do in Sky Islands?
You climb into the sky and explore 72+ floating islands themed after the biomes below, from desert to forest to jungle. Along the way you trade with Sky Villagers, mine biome ores and the rare Adamendite, and use its shards to tame a Sky Cloud as your flying mount. From there you forge the biome armor sets and work towards the endgame Fusion armor.
Is there an end goal, or does it keep going?
There is a progression to follow: find the islands, gather the ores, forge the four biome armor sets and the Adamendite set, which gives a permanent double jump, then fuse them into Fusion armor. Reaching it is not the end though, much like beating the Ender Dragon in Minecraft. The islands stay part of your world, so you keep exploring, flying, trading and building with everything you unlocked, and updates keep adding new things to come back for.
Can I add Sky Islands to a world I have already started?
Yes, and it is worth knowing how it works. Sky Islands uses Minecraft's own world generation, so islands only appear in chunks that have not been generated yet. Anything you have already explored stays as it is, and you will find the islands as you head into new territory. Starting a fresh world is the way to get the full set from the beginning. You will need Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.80 or later.
Sky Islands or Skyblock Block Planets, which one should I pick?
They are two different things. Sky Islands is an add-on: it layers floating islands on top of a normal survival world, so you keep the world you already play in.
Skyblock Block Planets is a world, a self-contained map you load and play on its own, where you start on almost nothing and build up from scratch. An add-on goes into your world, a world does not.
What did the Version 2 update add?
Version 2 is a full rework rather than a patch. It rebuilt the add-on around 72 floating islands and 15 Sky Villagers, and added 4 biome armor sets plus 16 Adamendite Fusion pieces, 4 swords, 4 tools, 5 island ores, the Elevator and 45 new recipes. If you already own Sky Islands the update is free and already yours, so it is worth loading it up again to see what changed.
Which platforms does it work on, and how do I get it?
Sky Islands is on the Minecraft Marketplace for 830 Minecoins, and works on Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, iOS and Android. It is a one-time purchase and we keep updating the add-on, so future updates are included.
